32 Gas pedal footrest mount question

The old gas pedal footrest base on my 32 pickup is a little bent and has a nut welded on the base for the post to screw into. The base is round with 3, equally spaced screw holes. Still usable with a little hammer whacking if need be, but it looks like a crude fix for one that broke.

The repop one I bought is flat on one side (see pic). Planning to mount the new one on my newly cut floorboard, but wondering what the orientation of the flat side should be. I figure the straight side is vertical and on the side toward the gas pedal (so the main support area is on the outside). Also, want to make sure (if anyone knows) that this part is acceptable for 32. I know on these repops a lot of times they send Model A parts that aren't original for 32. Anyone know the skinny on this? Thanks. Rich B.

Not sure This will help but the "round base" is under the floor mat, so what difference does it matter.to quote Hillary. LOL

Here you go, this is an original showing the orientation and the reason for the cut. I just went to the garage and pulled the carpet back so sorry for the crappy pic. I think you can get the idea though .

Your reproduction looks to be a very good rendering of the original. The flat area faces off against the swinging cover for the clutch release bearing grease cup access hole in the #1 floor board. The base of the foot rest ends up limiting the swing of the cover to counter clockwise movement only.

Where does the footrest mount in relation to the throttle pedal itself? I have a footrest for my '32 but i am a bit fuzzy on exactly where to mount it.

Weird , my picture is hosted on this site and it is for public view. You do have to be logged into Ford Barn to see the pictures. Try going to my albums, under 32 Roadster , and see if you can see the pic there .

The photo below will give a general idea of the foot rest location in an original car.
