Which turn signals works/looks best? Square or long?
Should I just get the kit?
Should I buy the items separate and put it all together?
What has your experience been?
All advice appreciated.

None of the above.

I got the complete turn signal kit from Sacramento Vintage (Signalstat 900) that utilizes the existing cowl lights and tail lights.

What you have pictured don't show up well enough in traffic to be of any use at all.

How do you like your coffee?

With: Cream; Equal; sugar; black; mocha, latte; or maybe don't like coffee?

Many honest and sincere preferences and experiences may follow for different reasons; however, one has to admire your good safe thinking.

Vintage hand signals today could be interpreted as if you are holding your hand out to see if is raining.

Turn signals are at least just one (1) safe item to add while driving in today's traffic.

Just typed it in, no such animal showing (Signalstat 900) at Sac vintage
Is that the new cowl light with the turn signal light built-in?
I need something, damn near got tee-boned, young kids do not know what hand signals are/mean, must have thought I wave waving at him.
I could always just wire my cowl and tail lights up my self, just need the flasher and turn signal switch.

Thats what I do [signal-stat]. I got rear ended and switched to LEDs for the rear.

SacVin Part # 00724-5 is what I used. It's a SignalStat 900, modified for the Model A with cowl lights, has all the wiring in a nice braided bundle to hook up everything.

They have other options, just type in "signal"

And Pat's comment about LED tail lights is spot on!

I used the original cowl/taillights with 50cp bulbs.
When I put the F100 steering in I used the whole column so I have self canceling also.

I used the red ones in your upper picture for the back, and put amber lenses in my cowl lights for the front.

The red ones are bright enough on a sunny day, and I have the brake lights wired into them also.

My car only has a single stock tail light, and a rumble seat - hence why I added the LED turn signals.

When I tried to do hand signals, everyone just waved back :(

I like the red LED lights mounted between the bumper rails -not too obtrusive.

HOWEVER - I did spot on MAFCA's facebook page a while back a gentleman that added an LED into the bumper clamp bolts - now that was cool.

I added a second tail light and wired them for the rear tail / signal lights. On the front I used a second pair of cowl lights and replaced the arms with home made aluminium brackets that fit behind the bumper brackets. Same shape as the headlights and nothing modified that cannot be returned to original. I used a typical signal controller from the 40's to make it look like it would have "back then". suits me.

I had a NOS switch for the column and hooked it up to the cowl light in the front. Used Truck marker lights from NAPA and put 6 volt stop light bulbs in them to be seen better. I fastened the marker lights to the trunk rack. They are nice and bright. The Flasher is tucked up behind the gas tank. John

Not self cancelling however. I have two of these units but chose something else for the 36 woodie that is self cancelling.

The switch that I have is self cancelling, but because of the size of the steering wheel hub, it won't cancel. I just have to remember to flip the switch handle.

Not a big deal to me. My hand is right there on the shifter when turning a corner, and I hear the beeper, so just put the switch back to center. I dont mind a bit of manual labor in a vintage car.

I bought the complete kit with wiring harness from Berts. It uses my cowl lights and two tail lights. I couldn't be happier.

I have been using the "logolites" LED directionals system for 4 years now and am very happy with it. (logolites.com)
They are a complete set-up including 2 amber bumper-mounted LEDs for the front and 2 for the rear, all the required wiring and good instructions, with a controller easily hidden under the dash rail (with magnetic attachment) and with lit-up and audible left and right turn signal activation buttons. I like this system because it is totally independent of the existing car's lighting and wiring, and because with both buttons pressed, you have an emergency flasher type of operation with all four directional activated.
