Best License Plate source

My A is a 1929 Closed Cab Pickup. I live in Virginia. I've learned that finding 29 tags for Virginia is like finding hens teeth. Would like to know if folks can suggest a research path that might provide the best chance at success.

I recommend eBay. There are a number of ALPCA (Automobile License Plate Collectors of America) members that list plates regularly and you can contact them about your particular needs if you don't see your plates (without having to join ALPCA yourself). I completed an all 48 state and DC single plate collection of the Model A years in about 10 months in this manner. Pairs are a little harder and are more expensive when the states have year of manufacture registries but they are around. Most plates will be unrestored but the ALPCA guys will sell some restored plates cheaper than originals as they like the real deal better than Memorex.

Try Wayne Tyler @ waynetyler@embarqmail.com . He also has an Ebay store: partsandplates . I have known Wayne for about 18 years and have found him to be very honest, with a wide variety of plates. He specializes in plates for Virginia and Maryland though. You can reach him by phone at 804-883-5520. He lives in Montpelier, Virginia.

Rich,Wayne Tyler will have the Tags your looking for. I looked at a set a couple of years ago he had for a 30 at a show. Going price was $300.00 restored.
If you plan on using the tags Theres a New twist to the VA.law. Say you have a set with # 123-456 for 1929 and DMV runs that Number and it shows up being issued to a 2005 Ford Escape. Then you will not beable to use the tags on your model A.
So...Run the Tag Number thru DMV before you buy it.
