Tudor roof-I need some help!

I am trying to finish the rear trim piece on my 29 tudor sedan. It is a 2 piece part and is straight, but needs to bend down around the sides and the slope forward at the same time. I've looked around but have not found them pre-bent anywhere for sale. I've tried to bend it by hand and also tried tacking it down, starting in the middle and working outward, but when I get to that bend the piece wants to distort. Anybody done this before? Success stories? Any advice that I can use to finish this? Thank you for any input. Bob

It's been a long time so, I think I pre-bent it forming it on a vise rubbing it and pushing down to get it close. Then finish form it as I installed it starting in the middle working to the ends. Hope this helps you

Bob,
i ran into the same thing recently trying to bend that piece around the curve. after many long hours screwing with t and being careful not to scratch the new paint i called berts. he happened to have a decent original that needed some work but was way more doable. why they dont start making them prebent like the gutters and charge more would be well worth it. good luck and if your successful please document how you went about doing it.

We install them all the time. The issue that most people have is they did not fit them to the car BEFORE they painted it. Just like everything else, if you don't take the time to fit components during the initial mock-up, you pay the price down the road.

As for why they are not sold pre-bent, I suspect it is about price. The extra cost to pretend, and the extra freight costs in sending them from the manufacturer to the dealer, and then from the dealer to the customer. Again, none of this is an issue if they are fitted during mock-up. :o

Brent in 10-uh-C will know for sure. Why not send him a private message just in case he misses your post. The guy is a walking book of knowledge and is more than happy to help pekoe out ! Wayne

agree brent i paid the price
but i can still see it being difficult even if was not painted. they need to bend and twist without kinking. i would be easily willing to pay a surcharge for prebents.
just like the gutters are now available straight or prebent..

the next time i need them will drop ship it to you first;)

imo that was one of the most difficult things of the complete restoration

While your comments definitely make a person like me feel good, I truly feel you are being WAY too generous with your thoughts on my behalf. There are many guys on here that are WAY smarter than I too!! Thank you anyway!

Mitch, they really are not that hard to do when the metal is bare. Just time.

Brent I agree there are other knowledgable people but I also know that to most it is a hobby and to you it s a business / career ! When Brent speaks, people listen !
