40 pickup. Believe to have right battery tray however cant seem to get it mounted. I know it mounts on passenger side rear of the engine but...Any ideas/pics? Thanks

Are you restoring the truck ?
If not, get a vintage ice chest, put the battery in the ice chest in the bed.
Makes for a much less cluttered engine compartment.

Check Bob Drake catalog, I think they repo that piece. You could make sure you have a truck one. The green book says it's different p/n.

A suggestion...you REALLY need to spring for the '40 Ford book from the V8 club, and a '28-48 parts book. Lots of answers, and the parts book will detail the answers out to the bolt and washer sizes.
Most of the passenger car info will be correct for your pickup, NOT the truck info which is for the bigger chassis.

I have the parts book but doesnt show pics or location, unless I am missing pages. Just because you have the items, bolts and tray and such, doesnt mean you know where they go. I purchased my truck in pieces. And I have not seen too many stock 40 pickups out there to compare to. I will look into the '40 ford book from the V8 club though

The '40 book is not the best of the resto series, but it does provide many pictures of car details that I think will help a lot with your jigsaw puzzle. Nothing that is specific to commercials will be shown, though. Commercial and truck people are way behind in available resources!
The '38-9 book is absolutely great, but of course a lot of stuff changed between '39 and '40. Still, though I have never owned a '38 or 9, that book is so broadly informative I refer to it frequently.
If you can run down 1940 or so chassis and body parts books, you will find then useful too...your owner's manual can supply a surprising amount of info, too...the pictures of underhood might give a view of battery setup, for instance.

Why is it that commercical information is so hard to come by? I have a 39 PU and the 38 - 39 car book gives very little information or pictures on the chassis which would be the same. It seems that there are a lot of PUs being restored and there has to be some demand for commercial information.

Well to answer your question, someone needs to step up and work on a 38-39 pickup book and another group needs to do the 40-41 pickup book. I must tell you though, that doing a restoration book is lots of work and time. Lawson and I have been working on our 35-36 pickup book for two or three years and the more we learn the more we realize that we don't know!!
