Tie-rod sleeve color?

Guys, I'm back into my '39 1/2 Ton and currently restoring the front end. What was the original color of the tie-rod sleeves and clamps? Can't locate an original shot of the front end. Thanks in advance to all.

Painted black like the tie rod ends/idler arms/drag links weren't they?

Yes, since I posted that I checked the '39 book - they were painted, probably by hand on the line. Thanks for the reply.

Chassis black is correct.
As far as sleeves go... originally there were no sleeves.
