C6 question - torque converters

Hi all,

Doing some work, found a C6 for my 360. I am not getting the torque converter in the purchase but I have a C6 torque converter sitting on my garage floor from a 351W/C6 out of a bronco.

I read some stuff about different sized things and the question is, will my 351W torque converter work with a 360/C6 combo? I don't want to have to also buy another t.c. in addition to flywheel, plate, cover, cooler and starter.

Also, will the manual trans starter work with the C6?

Thanks in advance.

The nose of the 351 convertor, 1.375, is smaller than the pilot hole in the 360 crank, 1.850. So no it won't work unless you can have someone machine out a bushing to put into the 360 crank to center it. You will need non counter weighted a flex plate for the 360, the 351 won't fit. The original 360 stick starter may work

OK, here is where I am confused. The nose is smaller than the hole in the crank. Does the pilot hole actually hold the nose of the converter center? I was thinking that was dependent on the converter to pump alignment and the converter bolts to the flywheel.

Is that pilot hole really applicable in this case? I understand holding a pilot bushing for a manual trans, but I just don't see why it would make a difference. Not being bull headed, just wondering why it matters in this case.

Thanks.

OK, I googled that specific question and the exact scenario I am in is in another site. I guess it does need to fit just right. I will have a bushing made.

Thanks!
