Horn Wiring Question

I just purchased an used Spartan horn a while back that looks to be in good condition. There is a terminal block on the underside of the horn that appears to be where I connect the two wires using push in wire lugs on the wires; is that correct? That is how I connected the wires to the horn and it did not work using the horn button. Is there a way to test the horn by directly attaching it to the battery? Thanks for any advise.

You can do that or you can use a battery charger to power it for a test. Polarity doesn't mater for test

Look the wires over to see if you can spot the trouble. The current goes from one connector to one field, then through the brush and armature, out the other brush, and through the other field. Make sure the brushes move in and out and are clean.

The wire terminal poke in from the ends, so they point towards each other.

here is an excellent tutorial by MikeK on how the wires connect to the horn.
