are the t strips bolt in or spot welded to the rear panel? I have undone the bolts but the t strip will not move. Any help would be great. Thanks in Advance

they are the t shape pieces that fit between the rear panel and the rear quarters. they run from roof down to the bottom of the body.

The molding strip between the back panel and the quarter panel. It provides support for the back panel and keeps the rear of the body from sagging under its own weight. The T strip for the tudors are a crimped over hollow strip. The one for deliveries are extruded, but are the same shape. Rod

That is the only way I know of. I removed the strips from the back panel I used to make a patch panel for the rear panel of the my delivery. Also removed the T strips from my back panel so they can be brought back to their original shape seperately from the panel. Now to try to shrink them back to shape. Rod

Was your back panel the 2 piece? I am thinking that one of my friends had a 31 tudor with a 2 piece back panel and the T strips for it were not spot welded. It was the only 2 piece back panel I have seen. Rod

The way I removed the T strips on my 29 phaeton, which is similar to a tudor, only shorter, is to sandblast the T strip sides that are still attached to the panels. This makes it easier to find the spot welds. I then use my die grinder with a 1/4" ball bit and grind out the spot weld. I only go through the T strip when grinding off the weld. When the weld is almost removed, I take a putty knife and slide it between the T strip and panel and with a hammer tap the remains of the spot weld until the T strip and panel separate. I repeat for all the spot welds. I have found that this works pretty well. When assembling the T strips and panels with bolts, I don't reweld the T strips to the panels - I just use the numerous bolts to fasten the panels and the sandwiched T strip together. I believe Ford spot welded the T strips to make the assembly process easier and quicker.

My late 31 Tudor is one piece back panel. Quarter panels slid into the T strip also. I was very careful removing, it was a tight fit maybe rolled at ford plant.
I think I used a heavy putty knife blade at a 90 degree angle and tapped blade with a hammer. After chemically cleaned I just slid all back .
