turn signals

Im just courious, When i look at the "A" model pic's. in the model A news and the restorer and some of the car show's i don't see a lot of add. on turn signals, is this because most owner's want to keep their car's org. as they can?
With the traffic as bad as it is today even on the weekend's and as slow as most "A" models are, plus having to roll down the window to give a hand signal on a cold day, it just look's like turn signals would be the way to go.
Any comment's as to why so many folk's don't have them?..Thank's.

Unless you are investing in a fine point car that goes from the garage into a trailer, install a second tail light and provide for turn signal lights front and back. I prefer the led tail light inserts and the led turn signal lights because they really show up -- even on a very bright day. Then, get in the habit of using your turn signals -- even if you are being followed by another Model A'er who knows where you are going.
It is a "safety thing" and does not reflect on your Model A's degree of "restoration."
Amen.

In my town about half of the drivers of modern cars don't bother to ever use their turn signals. Don't know why - maybe they think they will wear them out. Anyway, I'm curious if this is just a local thing or happening everywhere. Do people in your neighborhood use their signal lights?

That's a good one where I live they dont use turn signals a lot, and if you make some comments about it the the fellow or lady shouts : I am turning here to the right for over 60 years now " you must know that by now young fellow" OOPS Iam 65 . lol.

It is impossible to get into the right lane of a highway from the left, particularly at night, without an electric turn signal. Hand signals are just answered by a wave at best.
There are ways to hide the switch, such as by cutting off the end of a Signal Stat 800, or its Chinese copycat, and revolving it to the 12 o'clock position. Lamps can utilize cowl lights and regular taillites.
I supplement my turn signals with an LED light bar, and I have additional stick-on magnetic LED battery tail lights for long trips on fast highways.
You probably don't see seat belts either, another necessary add on in my opinion.

Most people around here use their single lights on modern cars.
I was asking because im in the process of installing a set of LED turn signal's on my 31 coupe, so far they seem pretty simple to install, even though the price has went up from just a year ago, but still cheaper then repairing a bent fender or worse:eek:.
I've only been in this hobby a little over a year and now that i've got it running fairley good and drive it two or three days a week, i just thought turn singles would make it a little more safe;).

South Florida no they don't, use them as a matter of fact if you do the person in the lane you wish to move to will speed up so you can't move over. They figure they were in that lane first and you are not getting in front of them.

I'm on the boarder on PA and NJ so I get the NJ/NY driver who do the same thing- however with a 5 & 9 year old I'm leaning to the turn signals and adding the seat belts.

Besides the above I think an old air bag is needed as well....thats why I won't go anywhere in the A without the wife:rolleyes:

Getting cold in West BY GOD Virginia
