Yet another Drake wonderment...

I did think it was a good deal. Being a business owner I on occasion offer 'incentives', especially with new products.
Perhaps you missed the point... I ASKED TWICE if freight was free. TWICE I was told it was.
So, what you are telling me is no matter what I am told (twice) not to believe it?

If you read the shipping policy in his ad...."Free shipping on orders over $1000. or more. Applies only to orders applicable size items shipped by common parcel carriers (UPS,FED-EX). Items as noted requiring shipment by frieght truck do not qualify for this offer.
What part of that didn't you get.
I've always had good service from his company.

Hey Mike,YES,i signed up for Bobs 20 dollar catalog years ago. Finally received a coupon for savings 7 years after i sold my '37.Lets see do you think Bob has any parts for my '56 Chevy as i am not gonna use ANY of Bobs junk on my Rouge 37 Tudor.Hey Mike,YOU are a straight shooter,Bob is just a bullshitter.diz

You seem to miss the point. I was told TWICE the shipping was included. The point is the ethical running of a business. If one of my employees makes a mistake, I take care of it. It has cost me dearly at times. However, if my employee is not trained correctly it is MY fault. I don't tell my customer, "too bad, we made a mistake".
If you ever happen to buy a part from me ( I ship at actual cost AND advertise as such) I will be certain to add $177 to the shipping fee for you. After all, no big deal to you. You will obviously get over it easily.
Bottom line... it's not the $177... it's the (lack of) ethics.

Hey Mike, I agree with you 100%. It is a sad state of affairs when the owner lacks the cojones to man up and take resposibility for a mistake made by his company. Dennis

So get over it TWICE...

gee was a few months ago drake was hero on the barn for importing these huge panels, no one then considered that it was going to take truck frieght to get this stuff home and now we complain. where was the truth then? bob gave you what you wanted now you $%^&*(() did you really belive free truck frieght???? i do not like what drake has done but you should have known better to!!!!!
the one thing that drake has done that ems has never done is made a quality part that fits.

I think this issue comes down to one thing. Was the quality of the part worth the extra $177? If the Drake part looked original and fit like it should vs the same part that did not look original and needed work to fit, would you not be better off paying the extra $(shipping) for the Drake part? JMHO

Thanks for the heads up Kube. Maybe some of the rest of us guys can learn from your misfortune. A mans word is his bond.

For the most part when I have purchased parts from Drake they fit but sometimes, like any other reproduced parts they do not. I would personally like to see some sort of permament post that rates good reproduction parts as well as bad from different vendors maybe in a technical forum. Not a ***** session about a specfic vendor but something that could be used constructively. It might save us all some headaches. New Henry stuff is great but reproduction parts is the future. I am grateful that new parts are being made to keep this hobby alive. I believe that good repo parts should be acknowledged as well as the not so good.

I ordered a set of floor pans about 6 weeks ago from Bob (BackOrderBob). Of course they were not in stock.
Anyway, I was told the freight would be free. I asked TWICE if this were true as it seemed like a deal. I was told TWICE that "Yes, freight is included."
You guessed it... freight is extra. $177 extra.
Where I came from and the way I do business, my word can be taken to the bank. If I make a mistake, I suffer the consequence.
Yes, Drake has helped us. However, remember he is motivated by profit, not simply because he loves old Fords. Perhaps a bit too much by profit...
Funny how the water pump fiasco didn't come to a fair conclusion until the story was 'exposed' here on the Barn.
And, what about the sale catalogs we paid for years ago ($10) that took YEARS to arrive. In the meantime how many got their $10 returned... the list goes on.

By coming up with an acronym for poor customer service using the letters of his first name(BOB), one would have to assume that you went into this deal with negative expectations. Why deal with him if you expect a problem at the outset?

Why are you complaining about it here & not directy to BOB DRAKE?

Either get over it or grow a pair & call Bob.

mmm! if they stated it mistakenly twice it must of been a woman you spoke with and i bet she had 2 black eyes!:D we all know the story.....:p

How in the world can you guys take up for BD in this situation ? I bet if it happened to you, you would be crying your eyes out, instead of thinking, as you speak !
MIKE

Ross, I agree with you 100%. Is that your coupe in the picture?

Yes, it is. I bought this car in 1965 from the original owner. I drove it my senior year in high school and first two semesters of college. I was driving this car when I met my wife and I still have both.
I am currently doing a frame off rebuild of the car.

No, it comes down to being promised one thing and given another.
It has nothing to do with quailty or the $177. I can afford that.
I expect to receive what I am promised. PERIOD.

Harrison, Perhaps you need to back up to the beginning of this thread and gain an understanding of my complaint. It has nothing to do with the $177 as I have tried to explain. It has to do with getting what I was promised. PERIOD. Also, I have attempted to reach Mr. Drake. Amazingly enough, that doesn't seem to be possible.
You tell me to grow a pair? Folks may not always agree with me but they have known for years I always sign my name. In other words, I say what I mean and mean what I say.
YOU are the reason I fear this site will become a version of the HAMB. I hope Ryan does not allow that to happen.

First, I did not invent that acronym. I wish I was that cleaver. Second, it is one of the nicer ones I've heard. Third, ONLY game in town for floors. If there was another way... I'd take it.

VERY COOL! And very cool that you have owned it that long. If I can be of any help, let me know. I restored this model three years ago. Did 999 at Dearborn.
