Z Head High Compression Head

I recently purchased a 1920 Depot Hack. It has what looks like an aluminum head on it with a stamp on the neck of the water outlet that is either a Z or an N depending on orientation. I also recently puchased a new Z Head for another T that I have and, when I compared the two, it appears the stamps are different. My questions are:

1) Did they ever make an aluminum N head?

2) Is this really a Z head from an earlier mold?

Here are some pictures of the two.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Well the previous owner said that he replaced the head with a standard cast iron head but painted it, hence the aluminum appearance. Upon removing the head to install the Z-Head it was obvious it wasn't a Z because it was smooth inside instead of machined like the Z is.

FYI, so far I'm pleased with the Z-head. I can definitely tell the difference in power. It just feels more responsive than the orginal head. I haven't tried to see what the top end is but, I will say that, it goes faster than I want to go on wooden spoked wheels. I went to the Z to have a little more power driving up hills. That combined with my Ruckstell does the job.

Thanks for asking!
