Yblock crank bolt size?

Hi fellas,

I'm working on the 292 yblock engine off my 63 f100. I removed the crank pulley bolt, only to find out it was stripped on the lower 1/2" end of the bolt. Now I'd like to run a tap just to clean up the threads that were boogered, but I need to know what size tap to purchase. Would you guys know what size I need?

Also, I'd need to buy a new crank pulley bolt. Any ideas on where to get a new one?

Much appreciated,
George

If you used an 11/16 wrench, the thread is 1/2-20 fine thread. If you used a 5/8 wrench it is 7/16-20 fine thread. I just can't remember which.

The good book says it is 9/16" x 18TPI (UNF) x 1 1/2", if you are talking about the crankshaft damper bolt.
