y-block in a 36 ford

btt btt but try it.
With electric fans , you would move engine up few inches. You will need truck pan and timing cover.
If you use a after market fire wall, you will be able to use any engine in the future.

One of my favorite 36's has a Y-Block in it. Here is a mag article on the car:

Now I love 36 's and the sound of a Y block on full song, thats a very nice package right there and a E code carb set up to boot... bam.

If your concerned with the 5 speeds aluminum case why not use the truck bellhousing with the built in mounts, adapt them to your frame and you should have no troubles.

I was considering a y-block in my 35 also but was hoping not cutting the firewall. I planned to build side mount engine mounts. I planned a 40 column shift and an early 50's 3 speed OD trans. My thought was a stock 292 would make more power than a hot flathead. Maybe I should reconsider and use a later flattie.

Thanks for the info.
if your going to go y block try a 56 or later. they were 12v, less to convert if thats your plan.

im trying to find a 12 volt soleniod to fit into my 54 ford three speed manual. ive been told its easy. can anyone help me find a replacement?

I want to run a y-block in my 36 five window. Any of you guys done this. What do I need to make this work. I have a Hurst mount, a t-bird oil pan, ECZ-G heads, Edelbrock 3-2 intake, t-bird valve covers, Will I have to cut firewall? I also want to run T-5 5-speed trans. Any info will be helpfull. I will be using Chassis Engineering dropped axel front end set-up and their parrallel rear set-up with an 8in Ford rear. Thanks guys.
I don't have a y-block in my 40,but I looked a lot of 40s before I installed a 351 some with sbcs.I decided that I wanted a recessed firewall for engine clearance eventho I might have made it fit.
