Correct, It sounds as IF I need the 40-41 style brown coil that does NOT bolt directly onto the distributor SO I have a "feeling" what I am looking for is a coil for either a 40/41 4cyl truck OR "possibly" a in-line 6cyl?????The brown coils I am familiar with are correct on a 40 and a probably 41 and are very different. The coil you show looks to be for a later year or maybe a tractor. Don't know if they ever came brown.
I "Need" BROWN for a "correct" restoration. I'll call Skip and see what he says!!! By the by its for a 1941 Ford Proto-Type Jeep DOD 8/41 SO I know 41 is a correct year of manufacture and that Ford used the brown version of this coil....I wouldn't think it was the "ONLY" vehicle to use such, GIVEN how much on this Jeep is "raided leftover parts bin" items are on it, I would "think" it was from a more common production vehicle......many other parts of it are 40/41 Pick-up parts OR 9N/2N tractor parts???That sure looks like a 1GA-12024 coil. Skip Haney may have a core in the brown color. Was also used on 42-48 v8 cars so not unusual. If Skip does have one, he could rebuild it for you. Even NOS ones are suspect. The black ones seem to be more common.
