my coils are acting up a little on my 26 just wondering if it would run better with distributor or new coils the price is about the same did any one find a big differance when changed thanks

Get your coils rebuilt from a pro, being sure they have been adjusted for current amp draw on a hand crank machine or Strobospark, that's the only way to get coils to fire with intensity and no double sparks.

If your mag is good, your coil box good, wiring good, and timer in shape, then rebuilt coils is the way to go.

A dizzy belongs on a Model A,......... Henry made 15 million T's using the magneto/trembler coil ignition.........this system works when you expend a little effort and a few bucks, rebuilt T coils, new points, new condenser, and tested right run about $50 ea. and will last you years and years with no maintenance

where is ron located just want to know if it will run better just bought a 26 four door just checking the cost is not alot different between the two

With coils in good shape and a working magneto you will get a better running and sounding car in my opinion

My opinion is that while using coils, and you are on a tour or such, if one quits working you can ususlly borrow one from another tour member. But if using a distributor, very seldom will you find someoone with a spare condenser, points or rotor that will match your dist. Coils equal finishing the drive under the T's own power. Distributor equals a ride on the Vulture wagon.

Sorry I missed you. I always like to visit with other T owners and enthusiasts. If your ever back this way email me and i will send you my contact info.

Years ago I bought a '22 T that had been fitted with a distributor. It started easily and ran ok. Luckily I was able to buy a new set of points and condenser for it. The car ran ok and the advance/retard was good. Something was not quite right though. I pulled the distributor and stuck on a New Day timer and coil box and the car was really outstanding in the way it ran. I sold the distributor and never regretted it. Just my own personal experience.

Just completed 8 coils. 4 for the car & 4 spares. Replaced the capacitors myself. Was surprised at how simple it was. Had them set up on an hcct tester and I'm amazed at the difference.I thought I might have to do the valves but tried this first. Re-melted the chipped out tar on the barbeque in a tin can.Lang's was recommended for the Caps.

Should have said this first: To answer your question, if the car had a distributor system I'd stick with it. I (personally) consider it a better system and it's an acceptable modification as there are so many of them out there.
