Wiper Motor problem

That worked! I disconnected the vacuum hose at the wiper and put two or three squirts of light oil into it and reconnected it. After a couple of halting wipes it just took off fine. Thanks for the tip!!

Well, I tried the home remedies: soaking the paddle in ATF; shooting some light oil into the vacuum line - and they all worked... for about five minutes. I tried rebuilding it following the directions in the rebuild kit diligently. It was worse than before. So I sent my motor out to Ficken Wiper Service in New York. Amazing!! They may not get an award for "bedside manner" but they deliver the goods - and fast! Mailed out my motor and had it back within about a week. Does it work? LOL! It doesn't just 'wipe' the windshield; it 'flings' the water off! I was so excited I took my car out in a downpour just to watch the wiper work! For $149 my wiper works as good or better than it did when it was new. I can't say enough good about Ficken Wiper Service!

I finally circled back to this project today. After working on the edges and the switch, it now works running and reversing on its own. I am going to keep refining it for better performance, but I am making progress. Thanks for the tips and advice!

Thank you to everyone who has given advice &/or information on this thread. I plan to try to get my wipers working this winter. Right now I'm too busy driving it to tear into it.

So I sent my cores to Ficken and they paid for the shipping nothing flat. They were very nice to deal with and they got some cores to rebuild.
