Went out for coffee

Like others on this forum, I went out for a run early this morning. There was little traffic on the roads. Stopped for some coffee and then filled the tank on the roadster. $4.15 a gallon! Then came home and polished her up.
Hope you all have a great day.

That's what I did also. I went to BJ's for gas (3.15 gal) then went to Dunkin's. Great morning.

There was a father and his 8 year old old daughter gassing up. I could see that he sent her over and she said she liked the old car. I asked her if she wanted to hear the horn, and she smiled. I blew it and she went scampering to her father. He smiled and waved.

Google AI: Price of gasoline in 1930?

Ans: In the 1930s, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States ranged from 10 to 20 cents. Prices dropped to a low of about 17 cents in 1931 and reached highs of 20 cents in years like 1930, 1937, and 1938, largely driven by low demand and intense competition during the Great Depression
Using 15 cents as the average, the same adjusted for inflation today would be...

$0.15 in 1930 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $3.00 today, an increase of $2.85 over 96 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.17% per year between 1930 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 1,899.71%.

I think I paid $2.79 last week - although it has jumped up (again) since then.

Local gas price (Circle K) near me is $2.99

$4.15/gal in California? Dang! My el cheapo gas station I saw this morning was $5.29, and I think I paid $5.49 last week at Costco.

I'm holding out for lower prices (ever the optimist), I will need to fill my Tundra before too long and that always hurts.

When I do that I let the kids press the button. Ear to ear smiles, generally.

Joe,if you go to that Circle K right now you will get a shock. At noontime the price there was $3.91.The other Irving station, just up the road,is at $3.89.They are both Irving stations, but only one is has a Circle K store in it.Also,it looks like you need their members card to get that price.Looks to be a dime more without their card.I went to fuel my Tacoma up here in Epping, the price was about a dollar over what I thought it was.I hadn't been paying attention. My wife really likes paying that $15-$20. extra on the light bill every month to plug in her electric car.It gets charged 4 times a month,1000-1200 miles.

I actually do the Irving Pumps on Portsmouth Ave on the way into Exeter. And I do have the card. But I don't do the "pre-pay account" which is where the best savings is.

We here in Seacoast NH generally suffer with lower than national average price for fuel. Of course we make up for it in property taxes and general cost of living.

There is always Massachusetts - NOT.

Good to remember "Live free or Duh."

Try $2,19 per litre, thats 91, 95 and 98 are more , but It is still cheaper than when I was an apprentice in 66, my wage was 33 cents per hr, fuel then was 33 cents a gallon (4.5 ltr,) today an apprentice here starts at around $15 per hr, so will buy nearly 7 ltrs or 1.6 gallon.

Wings and Wheels @ Cable airport Upland CA. About 200 cars total everything from our Model As to exotic supercars. A little while later a new Ferrari 12 Cilindri backed in behind us.

A bunch of us meet with the old cars in Kingston every Sunday at three for ice cream.I did not take a Model A today. It is just way too hot in that coupe, and the phaeton really isn't much better.A friend usually shows up in his Tiger, but he said that was way too hot to drive today also.He said that Tiger is the hottest car he'd ever had.I used to have an Austin Healy 3000,and that was the hottest car I'd ever owned.

Fuel is the same price around here (we are 2,000 km apart). I did a similar calculation to Lawrie. One US gallon of juice here is $US5.85
I have said many time here - you guys don't know how easy you have it.

$20 to drive 1200 miles is pretty cheap "gas".
$20 got me 3.7 gallons yesterday. My A gets 12-14 mpg enough for just shy of 50 miles.

If you've ever had an electric car or had solar installed at home you will discover just how many people there are in the world with a don't know and refuse to learn attitude. They're pretty happy to tell you that you really aren't saving any money,it just an illusion.Three years ago the cost to keep that car charged was $12-$15.per month.Local utilities increases. That show on the Kingston plains has always been a great show,I was always there right up until covid.I haven't been since.I get sick real easy now in the heat.

Meanwhile here in North Texas cheap gasoline is around $3.39/gallon... we just go in our backyard and draw up a barrel and take it to the refinery.
