U-Joint Inner Cover

The inner U-Joint cover has two holes. I assume they are for grease to flow. How should the cover be oriented? Should the holes line up with where the two halves of the outer cover come together (vertical) or to the side?

I have never seen any official Ford document that explained the orientation. However, all I have put together I had the holes at the three and nine o:clock position. My thinking is that any oil leaking down the transmission output shaft will have some place to go once it reaches the two holes.
