trunk rack

Model A Man

Did the rear trunk rack that came on the 30/31 deluxe roadster and coupes painted black or were they nickle plated? I have a rack the is chrome plated and has metal strips that are woodgrained. I am thinking it is an orig. that was chrome plated at one time as the car was restored in 1978. How can I tell if it is orig?
Thanks

That model of luggage rack was being reproduced back in the 70s so it will be hard to tell if it is an original.

Go to (abarnyard.com) and look at the rack on that deluxe roadster. It is an original and is correct except that the woodgrained slats should be oak woodgrained not walnut woodgrained on a roadster.

Where can I find this information? Sorry to doubt you but I certainly would not think this is something Marco would have overlooked.

Check his web site. I have been told that he comments about his mistake on the color and grain. I have a '31 Deluxe roadster with the original rack. The car came to me in an unrestored condition except for a early '50s repaint. Before I restored the rack, it was chrome plated and had a light oak woodgrain on the metal slats. I have not restored the car. Gar Williams
