Transmission Clutch Discs

Good morning all,

I'm ready to re-assemble my transmission and have heard of a couple of ways to install the discs. Frankly, the way Mr. Ford arranged them seems to make the most sense to me. Is there any known value to installing them in pairs (two outter- two inner and so on) as seen in a rebuild video?

Start with larger outer. They are stacked one outer one inner, one outer one inner ending with an outer.
 
If you put two outter-two inner won't you reduce by half the amount of surface area in the clutch? Sound like a a plan for slippage.

That's the way i see it. You will have reduced the working surfaces by half. Not good on hills, hey?
