If you have the time and money (in my opinion) to waste, by all means do it. Remember your engine is 60 plus years old and never knew it was missing it. If you do it 'Glyptal' is the only thing to use.

Make that two votes for the Glyptal , if for no other reason ( this thread has mentioned a few good reasons) its make you feel beeter about the entire job. I love the stuff and use it on the inside of rear axle housings, backing plates etc. Expensive but tough.......
