First not related, I got my first ride in the kids new F350 diesel 4dr, I just gotta
say I never dreamed I was in a truck never would know its diesel, never thought
my back would survive 600 miles, more like ridin in a Lincoln. Of course 60
grand. Ok my back and my new Ford are home safe and sound. This is a
breathtaking barn find. Even more, thinking I face death, she fell in love with it.
and she dont like nothing i do. Had to say that. OK questions without miles
of gooling & stuff. Engine is in a hundred boxes, clean, painted all nice.
I got a couple shady valve seats. I got too much stem clearance (in my book)
So the plan, I know of guys using small block Chevy valves, so what valves?
ream block bores and press modern valve guides or ream to Chev specs?
I may go with adjustable lifers.
OR, new Ford valves and seats (oversize stems) made by anybody??
Whatever, I have to counter bore the seats so its either Ford or Chevy seats?
I rather be in the shop than behind a coumputor. Today the blocks going on
the mill table we going to get some measurements. I want this wisper quiet.
Also I dont like crank end play, anybody used thrust rings like a Detroit diesel?
that would do it, usually on the center bearing dont want to get into pouring
babbit they are fine and crank journals too.
wife pushin me for a ride lol Nope!

Thanks Jack I forgot all about Snyders, heard to use adjustable lifter which I
want, and I mic'ed my valve, but im getting + - .o14 on the block, and that
dont pass my inpection. Then today I came upon a new sb 350 valve in the
junk draw same face diameter but the stems about .050 or so fatter.
we will see
