tire size

Does it still have the stock size tires and 4 lug wheels on it? 7.00 x 13 or 185/70-13?
Are you thinking of using 14 inch steel oem style or after-market alum. wheels?
6 cyl or v8?

You might need to go with a smaller size tire (205?)to keep from hitting the fenders. especially in front when turning and you hit a pothole. A cut tire & bent fender is no fun. IIRC, general rule of thumb is something like - not over 2 sizes bigger.
If you can keep the overall height of the new tires as close as you can to the height of the original tires you'll have less trouble. A 6 inch wide rim (bead to bead) is probably about right as long as they don't sit too much farther out and too close to the fenders. Wheels are available with different 'backspacing' to allow them to be either more or less centered (inside to outside) in the wheel well.

If you know someone with similar tires/wheels on their car ask if you can try them on to see how they fit. Or, If you can find a tire & wheel shop that will work with you to find what really works, instead of selling you whatever they happen to have, that's ok to.

Hopefully someone who has, or had their hands on, a Ranchero or Falcon will chime in.
