Hey guys I noticed yesterday my terminal box is broken all to hell! I have been battling a misfire rough running A for a few weeks now. Can this be an issue?
It’s mounting bolts are away from the fire wall. I’m running out of ideas. I have searched this forum so I have some things to try. Car was backfiring I found a broken intake manifold. Replaced it and the gaskets,soaked blew out and cleaned the carb, tried multiple rebuild carbs. I re gapped the points and now it runs even worse. Loss of power rough running and seems to be running warm.
Had to walk away from it last night. I have great fuel delivery. Clear cap shoes good spark. It much worse under load. I will change condenser today. Thanks for reading my rant I still consider myself green only a few years in this hobby and I recently Lost my Model A side Kick Brother at 53 years old who was my go to A Guy….. I will need some guidance sometimes and thank you all for your help.

As someone said on your other discussion, replace the terminal box. Loose connections can cause all kinds of problems.

I am so sorry to hear that your brother passed. 53 is way too young.
 
I don't know if you can find one but the OEM terminal box was as heavy duty as they get. The reproduction plastic ones are crap by comparison.

Your charging and ignition systems both centrally terminate inside that box so yes, it can have an effect Any movement of the two terminal screws could cause cross shorting and do more damage. Loose terminals will cause overheating in the wires due to resistance to flow. Fix the terminal box ASAP. Check your dash connections too. Any loose stuff can do damage eventually.
 
Good stuff thank you all so much I will update you soon. For good measure I took the manifold off and replaced everything all over again so I don’t have any doubts their. I will continue to check off the boxes.
 
I dismantled the manifold again cleaned everything up installed new gaskets resealed everything put it back together and it still runs like crap. I’m going to have to get a new terminal box and dig into the distributor. Start checking off electrical issues just so odd that it happened after I found the broken intake manifold..
