Tab vs Screw-in Filter Screen (Flame Arrestor)

I am currently in the process of cleaning out a late ‘30/‘31 gas tank with Rust 911. It is sealed and full of solution, upside down, so I can’t see the filler opening. In short, how will I determine if my tank takes a tab or screw in filter screen? Are the screens interchangeable? Maybe it will be obvious when I can see the opening, but just thought I would get a head start. Anyone have pictures?

Are the threaded style gas tank flame-arrestor filler screens being produced? Major suppliers seem to only have the tabbed version.

1. It will be obvious which you need.
2. You can drop the tab type in the tank filler opening meant for the screw in screen and it will just hang there.
3. Don't bother. They are a pain in the neck. You don't need it.

Seriously.
