Stromberg Throttle Shaft

On the right side of a Stromberg 97 there are connection points for both the throttle and the choke. What is that bit on the left side? I know that the left side is frequently used for the linkage for multiple carbs but what did it come from the factory with?

On the Strombergs on my '55 Ford Y-Block, the throttle is on the left side and the choke (center carb only) and accelerator pump linkage is on the right.
