Some folks have already been asking about this so I wanted to make sure I got the information out early - is this early enough for you?! LOL!
The Spring Fordbarn Meet in Williamsburg, VA uses the Colonial Williamsburg Rod Run as a backdrop. Due to Easter falling on the fourth weekend of April 2011, members of Tidewater Street Rod Association (who run the show) decided to move the 39th Annual Colonial Williamsburg to the third weekend of May 2011 (May 20th & 21st). The club has also decided to retain the third weekend of May as the date of all future Colonial Williamsburg Rod Runs.
Please pass this information on to your friends to make sure everyone can make plans to attend our 2nd Annual Spring Fordbarn Event.
Please mark your calendar now and reserve May 19th (evening of), 20th, 21st, and 22nd, 2011 for the 2nd Annual Spring Fordbarn Meet.
Registration forms and hotel information for the CWRR will be on their website very soon so please keep checking www.tsra-va.com.
Please contact Larry Anderson at landerson45@cox.net if you have any questions regarding the CWRR itself.
PM or email (tsquared40@verizon.net) me, Tom Trovato, regarding information and activities for Fordbarn members.
For those of you who have never been and want to know about the CWRR, it's a really nice old style event, this will be its 39th year, and great for the entire family. It starts on Friday about noon. Sign up for the whole weekend and there's a dinner Fri night, a cruise (which I make up) of which you end up at an ice cream place, and go Kart racing afterwards for those so inclined. Sat is the show and shine day (this is not a judged show in any way), with activities all day for everyone, shuttle bus to local area attractions and shopping runs all day, kids and adult games, a small swap meet, a poker run, and food is available on site. Sat eve is the awards ceremony where door prixes and some main prizes are given away.
For Fordbarners, the venue this year will be a little different than last year. We'll have a meet and greet at my garage on Thursday eve around 6PM or so and I'll have some dessert items and coffee. The next day we'll start out early and travel to a rather large private collector museum of sorts (I hope) - more info will follow. We'll actually all cross on the ferry (free) where my avatar pic was taken. We'll end up at the show after lunch in Smithfield with a stop at another Fordbarners garage, and do the show activities that evening. The next day is the show all day and we'll travel to a nice family-styled restaurant BBQ place for dinner. We may also cruise to a nice b-fast place on Sunday morning (it' actually about 1/2 way to Richmond so it's on most folks way home) to give folks a nice send-off as they make their way home.
This is all subject to change of course and we may even lengthen the weekend by including more events - we'll see what turns out over time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone who attended last year again and all the newcomers. There's plenty to do for everyone so you might want to plan a longer stay!
