As you have been reading, I am having some trouble with my spare tire to cab alignment/spacing. I would appreciate it if you 35-36 pickup owners would let me know the clearance between the corner of the cab and the spare tire when it is mounted on the carrier on your truck. Mine is about 1/2 inch, and I prefer not to shorten that distance any with the viabrations that are bound to happen. Any information will help a lot. Thanks.

Hi Lawson,What size spare tyre are you using?I think these side mounts were originaly for 600/16s,I use a 650/16 and it touched the cab,so I packed the Mounting bracket out on the upright post with washers and then twisted it a little to clear, you don't want it rubbing of you new paint.Give the spare a good shake by hand and watch the gap,if you can't make it touch then it should be sweet in service.Cheers Tony.

I'm using 6.50 x 16's, Goodyears. They are a little taller than most. I think therein lies my problem. I'll keep fine tuning it till I figure something out. lol

I have the cover on my 39 panel, it's kind of a loosey goosey affair so I modified it to be more secure from the back, my cover is a 35 car cover, I'm using a thin aluminum mulit mount rim and a Moroso front drag tire, tubeless, no one is going to see the spare on me and if I need it it will be there, plus it's very light, it solved a lot of problems on my application because I am running wide radial tires. I also put a ring of black floor protection material around the inner edge of the cover so that if for some reason the cover made contact with the body I wouldn't get a hickey mark out of that.
