Six package deal

Hey there.
Anyone out there running a small inline six has experimented the Weber DGV 2V 32/36 along with a DUI dizzy? classicinlines.com offers these as package deals and since in the future I'll have to think about ditchin the weathered carb and loado, I was thinking... It seems like a good choice for someone lookin for some upgrade on a stock engine: http://www.classicinlines.com/proddetail.asp?prod=WEB-DGV-SWP-K&cat=148 and http://www.classicinlines.com/proddetail.asp?prod=DUI-200-CIK&cat=148
Any insight/experience with these?
I know most of you run V8s and probably wont be able to tip, but maybe I get lucky.
Regards

I would not even consider the conversion they offer, just me speaking for myself.
First of all, the carb adaptor will not bolt-on to the 223 intake. It is for a 170/250.
It is a 2 bbl carb. Seems like overkill unless you want to race the Librarian.
Doubt you could get an air cleaner on it and be able to close the hood, unless you made something that had a flexible duct to an air-cleaner remotely mounted off to the side like Ford did in 1957, 8 & 9.
Doesn't tell you up front what machining work is required to get the duraspark dizzy to fit the 223 and oil pump shaft connection. Need gear change?
Wanna mess around with different jets in the carb till you find a suitable size for performance.
Better check the max fuel pressure at inlet of the Weber to see if it is compatible with your fuel pump output. I suggest NOT using fuel pressure regulators. But they certainly don't mind selling you plenty of them.
This all may be a great experiment if you WANT to play around for several months getting this installed and carb linkage changed over and getting all the adjustments made to get it running right.
But I get the impression you are looking for a PROVEN combination of products that are available in a package that will definitely fit and are compatible with each other so that you can just intall them and know that it will work properly. I wouldn't mind finding that myself for the '55 Courier 223.
Try looking at the Ford 240cid dizzy with mechanical advance. It appears to be identical to the 223 except for the top is deeper to house the counterweights. I think it even uses the same distr cap, but there is a small amount of modification to get the oil pump shaft to mate. Then just keep everything else you have as it is, but find out what you need to do to the carb to get the vacuum to work properly. Its probably going to be necessary to adjust the breaker plate return springs in the new dizzy to get performance right.

Spot on as usual Dave, thanks for the insight.

Right again, guess I thought it would be easier.

I'll take a look at a mechanical advance dizzy, but what kind of mods do you mean? Drive?

Regards.

I think what he means when he said later units are duraspark is that the 72 Ford 240 dizzy is just like your original dizzy except with the mechanical advance (and needs minor hex shaft modification to fit the 223. But later years (1973 and above) are duraspark units. Don't know for sure if that's true, but check it out if you would rather go that direction

Again my complaint about that post, is that he does not tell you what mods are required to make the carb compatible with the later dizzy. (block off venturi vacuum and run manifold vac to carb ???? Only block off vac passage in carb but hook up original ported vac tubing to dist vac advance ????

Thanks Dave, I've bookmarked that thread. It looks in fact like a simple mod to ditch the loado for a mechanical advance unit.
I'll pm him to see if I can get an answer on the carb mods.
Thanks for helping.
Regards
