signal flasher terminal

I am trying to use a common 3 terminal signal flasher. The lug marked X goes to 6 volts and the lug marked L goes to the directional switch. What does the lug marked P do? I would like to run a buzzer in the car that lets me know I forgot to turn the signal off and wonder if there is some way I can do that with the P lug. I am using my unused (Mallory single point dizzy) spark advance lever to throw a 3 way switch. Thanks, Art

X = Battery
L = Load
P = Pilot.

The P could be used for a dash indicator lamp or a buzzer.

Watch you don't overload the P circuit. It's meant to handle a very low current.

I used the P terminal to run a separate wire to a pilot light, trouble is the pilot light is 12v so it's not very bright. I'm looking for a 6V pilot light that will fit in a 1/2" hole. I tried the buzzer but it's just too loud and distracting.

Try this.
