Shifter for Tremec t170 RTS

I'm new here and looking for infomation on getting a shifter cane/stick for the T170 RTS. I've found a transmission but it doesn't have the stick for the shifter housing. Ive googled it in a variety of different ways without any luck. This website usually pops up in my search so here I am.
A part number would be awesome and then I could try Ford and see if by some chance they have one or at least a more definite google search item.

Thanks for your wisdom, I appreciate any and all responses.

Thats part of my problem. I dont know if it will. It looks like what I imagine would work. The other issue is I dont have the ****** as it a 10 hr drive and $750. Dont want to jump into the deep end without a sure thing.

I will definity do some research on it. Thanks for the lead.

Shift levers share a lot of characteristics but few interchange. I just looked at one on Flea-Pay for a 1984/87 T170 RTS 3+1 TOD trans but it is the whole top assembly ($240 +). The lever is two pieces on those and it's highly unlikely that a part number will do much good so many years after production ceased. The lower portion is just a stub with threads on top to attach the upper lever that's made to fit it. A person would have to try a lever to first see if it fit the hemispherical joint in the tower. The lower portion would have to be the right length to fit down into the shift fork rod slots and then the part that fits the slots would have to be the correct dimension. Murphy's law applies to purchasing anything but the correct part. If a person can find one of the guys that used to convert these for model As and other early Fords, then they might have a part laying around.

Maybe you'll get lucky and someone that has one will read this.

Hey Rotorwrench did you get my reply yesterday. Im not seeing it on my end. Im new to forums and may have ozoned it somehow?

I don't see it. You can send private messages but your low post number may have an affect. You need 10 posts to do everything you want.

I checked a parts catalog on a disk I have but write protection won't let me access the info. I'll never purchased any more write protected disc's anymore. My shop manual disk works for Ford trucks in that time frame but it came from a different source.

Thanks. So in the simpliest from if I understand what youre saying, all I need is a threaded rod to screw into the shifter housing?

I’ve never had one of those, but I’ve had the side shift version where 3rd became the o/d. Can’t remember what Ford called them.

But it might be worth calling some of the rebuilders out there. They seemed to be used by a number of vehicles. Maybe in the spare parts pile they’d have what you’re looking for.

Some info on what engine you’re bolting it to and the vehicle it’s in would also be helpful. Adding your general location may also help.

Thanks for the help Rotorwrench. Very much appreciated! One of the members suggest to talk to a ****** shop so Im headed there Monday.

All the best
