Scicala,

Hope you don't mind this public post, but I think a number of us who tinker on the Holley 4000's would be interested in knowing more about your teapot carburetor in your avatar. Is that deflector plate a Supercharger item?

Hello Hot Rod Reverend,

No, I don't mind at all. The carb in my Avitar is a 1957 Ford/Thunderbird Holley 4000 model for the supercharged 312. Not my carb, but just a picture I ran across years ago. Had a chance to buy a rough one years ago, but at $1500, I passed on it. This carb isn't even included in any Holley manual or specs that I have seen, so a pretty rare and valuable piece. I assume a well restored or NOS one would bring about $5K. Sal Cicala.

A rare gem indeed. I wondered if that wasn't a 57 F code carburetor. Do you happen to know if the Thunderbirds and the supercharged passenger cars had the same carb list number? or were they different? Also, was this carb another version of the Lincoln teapots?

What a conversation piece!

Yes, Thunderbirds and passenger cars with the supercharged 312 used the same list number carbs. There were two carbs (early and late) List 1536 and 1599. Not sure what differences if any. Yes, they were like the '56 Lincoln carb that was taller, and had larger throttle bores and venturi's.
The 2 x 4 barrel setups used the same carbs also on T-Bird and pass. car. 1957 was the last year of the teapot carb on any Ford passenger cars. In '57 Lincoln switched to the Carter WCFB.

I really don't know if NAPA/Echlin have the secondary diaphragm. I know the Holley number is 35R-136A, but long time not available. I usually buy them from carbjunkys on EBAY for $30 with free shipping, or they offer carb kits with or without the diaphragm ($23 without and $49.95 with). They will also sell the diaphragm only for $30 if you call them.
Walker products used to have them online for a lot cheaper, but has discontinued them.
