Running straight water

I’m thinking about running straight water in my ford radiator. Anyone had any experience with a good rust prevented to add to the water to prevent rust in the block.

Zerex used to sell a rust inhibitor additive that also served as a water pump bushing lubricant. I havent seen it in a couple years. Apparently the EPA outlawed some ingredient in that product. Anti-freeze never loses its temperture properties but over time the rust inhibitor and lubricative properties do erode.

I like to use a bottle of Macs 1300 in my cooling system. It is available at most NAPA stores. It is a cooling system conditioner and water pump lube.

Antifreeze with water, cools much better than with straight antifreeze. Straight water cools better than with any antifreeze added to it at all. Water with a wetting agent (Blue Ice) added, cools best. Research it. Once an engine is broken in and is now running cooler, add antifreeze to your radiator water. The antifreeze's additives are a great benefit to your cooling system.
