Replace motor mounts

I want to replace the motor mounts for a 1929 Coupe. The car is clean and runs fine, but needs them replaced. What is the estimated time to do the job?

How about the time to replace the clutch and resurface the flywheel?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If you have the original motor mounts and they are not cracked, you just need to replace the rubber sheets that go on both sides of the frame on both motor mounts. Clean up the mounts and paint them. The rubber sheets are a little hard to install. Buy new hardware. With the cleaning and painting I would budget a day.

To dry the paint completely in a short time instead of weeks, put the parts in you gas grill at 250 to 300 F for about 30 to 45 minutes.

The Float-a-Motor are easier to install. You just have to replace the rubber and tighten the bolts to just past where they start to get tight.

The easiest way to work on the clutch is to pull the motor and put it in an engine stand. That way you can tip the engine on it's nose and easily work on the clutch.

An experienced mechanic can pull and install an engine in 2 hours each way. A person doing it for the first time should budget 6 hours each way. The clutch is easy to take apart, just some bolts. Maybe 1/2 hour. If you have to take the flywheel off to get it resurfaced then add and hour. You need an alignment tool for the splines on the clutch disk when you put it back together.

I had to loosen the cowl bolts and use a frame spreader last time I changed the rubbers on my Tudor rear mounts. Made a big difference in vibration though!
