Red Faces anyone?

I have been looking for the Barn red face department with no luck. Here`s my first , ( only one at a time. ) Late last year I thought I would button up the bottom end of my `40 Merc. rebuild. No tools/ hardware resting in the pistons ( check ) oil pump safety wire, and split pins on the main bearing caps , oil pump pick up secure, ( check ) check torque big end caps . Grease the block pan rails , light sealer on pan surface of gaskets, silicon the front oil seal outer, all bolts ready, I should of glued that circular cork strip on rear main, but with a pair of chop sticks and an extra hand on it went . All sorted.

My `ah **** ` moment came a few days later when I thought, today, I might bolt on the flywheel. ` S%&T the F#%@&g thing won`t go thru the hole!

Took me a while, then I realized 'early block, cast in bellhousing, pan already on'.... Can't even get an 11"clutch on at that point, never mind the whole dang flywheel. Still better than finding a circlip in a box a week after initial startup.
