Recommendations for Henry

ALL: I have a friend who has the "proper" exhaust manifolds to convert Henry ('47 PU) to dual exhaust....I'm thinking he came with singles and to leave well enough alone......but what are your thoughts, recommendations??

on my truck i am going to put tube headers and dual exhaust with no mufflers:D straight out the back. i think a stocker sounds good with straight pipes or any flathead. stock the exhaust looks all plugged up

Marcus, you’ve got to let old Henry breath... In my opinion, Flathead V8's should all have been dual exhaust right from the factory but you know how I like my Flathead music. Go ahead and make him sing with a set of Brockman Mellow-Tone Steel Packed mufflers. Henry will thank you and you’ll be glad you made the change. The up side is, the truck will run cooler, have more power and sound as sweet as can be. The downside… Heck, there is no down side, it’s all good.

Marcus,go with straight pipes,no mufflers, but keep small diam. tail pipes, not very loud at all. have same on my 36.Expect to see them at Charlotte. LOl ken ct.

Marcus - Given that 'Henry" is pre 8ba, he would most probably benefit from dual exhaust . . and a pair of Brockman's would sound great. Just for reference, you might want to read JWL's book and his findings on the benefits of opening up the exhaust system. It's sorta counter intuitive. That said, I'd put duals on Henry!

Bredan - Thanks for the response - I apologize for the delayed answer: I have been totally focused in another direction of late.......I like the idea......

Warm Regards, Marcus

Vic - As always, thoughtful advice - thanks; my apologies for not answering sooner - ALL my focus has been elsewhere for the past several weeks....... Margretha asked what I was waiting for - EVERY other vehicle, to include the '08 Supercrew has a Hooker Exhaust Extraction System (to show my teenage side)....GRIN!
Warm Regards, Marcus

Ken - Thanks - I am certainly leaning in that direction........Brockman Mellow-Tones, hmmmm, wonder if our Dear Vic would get a cut of THAT action......GRIN!!
Warm Regards, Marcus

LOU!! Hope to see you in Charlotte......?? Maybe henry will be singing with the new Mellow-Tones, IF I can find the time to make the installation......
Warm Regards, Marcus

Exactly what he said ! :)

Especially about the "Flathead Music !"

Henry - Great to hear from you - sorry for the delayed reponse - I DO have JWL's book, and read it several times - his book is actually what stated the conversation with several friends in the first place.......and I'm thinking that Brockman's are a good way to go........see you in Charlotee??

No cut for me... I just happen to think that Brockman Mellow-Tone Steel Packed Mufflers can't be beat! I’d also suggest getting rid of those restrictive stock exhaust manifolds and replacing them with Red’s Headers. Whatever you do, enjoy it.

Marcus, are you bring Henry to Charlotte? My plan is to definitely be there, hope to see all the Fordbarn troops. LouB.

Vic - Thanks, again.......Still think you should get a cut......GRIN!! I may also consider using Red's Headers - hadn't thought of that......you and I think alike on the subject of lovin' these Old Flatmotors......

Lou - Definitely will have Henry there........in whatever state the exhaust may be (original or modified, depending upon time) - Margretha and I are looking forward to seeing you all -

The power gain won't be that much, but the sound is great. It's all about what makes you feal goooood. Go for it!
