Hi Ken, You have a very nice looking Ute. Unfortunately, this is as large as I can make these pictures?

Hi Ken, This is the model that you were describing. They are called Well Side Utes, Type 304. They were more practical at the times, as you could carry long lengths, however, looking more closely, the Spare Wheel would get in the way. In 1935, the Spare was mounted on the passenger side between the door & the rear fender, and was positioned lower and did allow very long lengths to be carried. They normally had a Support Bracket mounted on the front Bumper to support these long lengths. However, these days, collectors would rather the Straight Side (Type 302) as they are much better looking. Regards Mercman <><

Hi Ken, Here is a picture of a genuine 1932 Ford Straight Side Roadster Ute, Type 302, wearing Model A Wheels. It is unfortunate that the owner discarded this body and made a 1932 Coupe out of it, using of all things, the doors from a VW. Having said all this, I think that I have managed to derail this Post by adding all these 32 Ford pictures? Sorry about that.

No worries about derailing the post :) I enjoy the utes as much as you do, so any reason to talk about them is a good one. Shame about the owner of that one making it a coupe. The bloke I bought my 32 Ford Australian Phaeton body from said in the days he was down there buying and selling cars, everyone wanted a roadster. So they would take a ute and cut the backs off and make them roadsters instead. No accounting for public taste I recon.

I have reprints of that one. Used it as part of my display when I had the Ute at the local world of wheels show a few years ago. Neat history.
