Radiator hose "Socks" / filters

I remember seeing on one of the forums some post about "socks" (or) filters that are installed in the upper radiator hoses on a flathead. Does anyone remember this? I'd like get or make some of these for my car. Anyone know what they were/are made from or what material is used?

use the feet out of pantyhose. cut them off about 4" long, stick the toe into the raditor and wrap the other end around the inlet. Reinstall hose and watch the temp guage, if gets a bit warm clean the filter and reinstall.

Works great.
