Questions on 64 F100 292

So I picked up my F100 a couple weeks ago and have been going over it and I have a couple questions. I have a stumble under load and she seems to start rough. Once warmed up it idles ok. I checked and re gaped the plugs. Pulled the distributor cap and everything looks good there. I was told plug wires are only a couple years old and they look it. Would it be worth it to upgrade my ignition with something like the Accel 2020 kit? Next question is does anyone know if you can adapt the 19 tooth speedo cable that used to go into the Ford 3 speed trans (stock) into a t98 trans? Thanks.

Yeah didn't figure it would cure the stumble. I think that's going to be a matter of going over all the wiring and ignition system. Just wondering if anyone's done the Pointless upgrade and whether it was worth it?

it is always good to check the distributor for wear in the shaft bushings. If the shaft will move side-to-side, the point setting can bounce around to the point of not functioning if bad enough.

I have used and really like the Mallory/Accell point eliminator kits you mentioned. They will only fit in the later distributors which you should have in a 64. The 57 ball bearing plate distributor with the straight vaccum canister arm will not fit these kits. It would not necessarily fix your problem unless your condenser is faulty, but by replacing it you take the distributor out of the possible causes of your problem. These kits are whole lot cheaper than Pertronix and in my experience are every bit as reliable (if not more so).
It could be that your float level is set too low in the carb. This will make it hard to start cold, stumble off idle due to lean mixture on transition from idle to run.
Really though when chasing these issues you need to start on one component and work your way through.
