Quantity of Paint

Im finally getting close to putting the A in paint and wondering how much material others went through in a similar re-spray. Its a '30 Town Sedan with PPG bc/cc Maroon and Black original color scheme and will be painting both the interior and underside. Frame and running gear are done already so this is for all the body panels, fenders and such. I was originally estimating 2 quarts for each color (4qt total) but based on similar posts on other sites for other cars it sounds like this may fall way short and will need about a gallon each. I only went through 3 quarts of epoxy and 3 quarts of filler primer so 2 gallons of color sounded like alot. Anyone else spray a similar car and know how much paint was used.

Thanks for all the help.

I used a gallon each of blue and black base coat on my 30 Tudor. The black included doing the fenders and aprons.

Hi:

I painted a 1930 Murray Townsedan with Dupont Chroma- base (base/clear) about 10 years ago. When mixed the base doubled - hence the 2 quarts of black was adequate and I purchased one quart each of the other 2 colors. I had sufficient with just a tad left unmixed in each quart. When mixed this equaled a gallon of black and two quarts of the other colors. I may have put it on thicker then needed as I shot 3-4 coats of both colors. I purchased a gallon of the clear but had a significant amount left over, 2 quarts would not have been adequate. Attached, I hope is a picture of the final product. Most go ahead and purchase a gallon each color but I didn't and had sufficient; but I did not paint the interior except for the trim. I primed and put rustoleum on the remainer of the interio. Hope this helps. If one purchases 3 quarts they may as well purchase a gallon. BTW I used a HVLP gun with a 1.4 tip.

On the town sedan I painted earlier this year I bought 3/4 of a gallon of each color. Once reduced they each made a gallon and a half. I spray euro clear which make 2 gallons of sprayable material. The clear comes in 5 liter can and the activator comes in a 2 liter can.

Thanks for the replies guys. It looks like ill be buying a gallon of each color for good measure.

Thanks,
