Prothane Spring hanger bushings

I have the original type rubber in a steel tube type of spring hanger bushings in my '57 springs. The rubber is breaking up in them and I'd like to replace them with the plastic type that slips in from each side. I don't find any sources for them by searching web sites and catalogs. They need to be 1 3/8" OD with a 7/16" bolt hole. These are for the front hanger of the rear leaf springs. Any leads will be appreciated.

i didnt want to discourage him with that info, but since you started it i will all so add they ride very rough, and transfer a lot of noise to the vehecle

They squeak after awhile stay with the rubber.

OK I'm going to have to add my 1¢ worth and agree with both of these guys. Personally I wouldn't install them unless it was on a 'Race Only' car.

OK guys, thanks for the warnings. I'll try to wrestle those rubber bushings in. Any tips to ease the installation? The springs still on the car with the fronts dropped down to access the bushings.

use a brake hone and hone spring eyes, use a bolt that will go all the way thru the spring eye and bushing put a big washer on the bolt head of the bolt, run bolt thru bushing and then thru the spring eye, alighn bushing with spring eye, use another washer to cover the spring eye hole, put nut on bolt and start tightening, the bolt should pull the bushing into spring eye, if necessary hit bolt head with a hammer to help drive it in

Thanks ford3. I don't remember how I installed these 20 years ago, but the springs hadn't been installed in the car then, either. I suspect I drove them in because I don't remember using anything to pull them in. I'm going to try your suggestion as soon as they get here. I thought NAPA carried them but the local store doesn't, or they can't find a listing.

The bushings came and the all-thread worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip.
