I am not familiar enough with the French manufactured blocks to be certain. All I ever hear is that the back end is like the 8BA (see correction below). If the flywheel is the same as the 8BA then just get it redrilled to accept the 46 through 48 59A 10 inch Long type pressure plate. The other option would be to find a 49 thru early 51 Mercury flywheel that is set up with the Borg & Beck 10 inch pressure plate. Most 8BA types used in Ford cars & pick ups used a 9.5 inch Long type pressure plate and the trucks used an 11 inch Long type but they have very heavy springs.

PS: Correction; Front end is like 8BA, back end is like 59A with that big governor lump on it.
What i understand is the block is 8BA with the rear has the bell housing as part of the casting like a 59-A. I would not be sure what flywheel to use. I would probably buy one for a French block. Marv
If it is like the 59A then the 59A 10 inch long type would be the ticket. If the pan is the same as a 59A then the starter mounting should be at least similar and probably the same. If the Simca pan is different in relation to the starter maybe a 59A pan will bolt right on.
It mentions that there are two different pans, one works well (aluminum) and one doesn't (has sump at front). The starters are 24 volt but an early V8 starter will fit right up (maby to 59A style aluminum pan if so equipped?). Bendix should be same as 59A & earlier type but I don't know for sure. Some thread stuff is UNC/UNF and some is metric but no complete elaboration here.
