power steering on 55 ford customline

OK well new day new direction. After long hours of contemplation and deliberation i.ve decided to not got the 302 route and stay with the 272 I have. It needs a complete overhaul but in the end I think I will be more pleased with look and feel of the original engine in a what appears to be an original engine bay unless you look to close. Lol
I've been weighting by options such as getting a used engine somewhere and rebuilding that or purchasing a crate engine or having mine rebuilt by a professional. Realistically my skills with Fords in nonexistent. Been a chevy man all my life. So if someone has an engine that they would be willing to part with inexpensively or has one in the garage no longer needed or wanted let me know. As of now I'm earnesly considering purchasing a long block from one of the engine builders ie: Jasper, J&L etc and doing the switch over that way. please comment both pro and con
if you know of any good sources let me know.

Well I'm still trying to figure out to get the photos I promised from my phone to my computer so I can upload them..
I'm not the brightest match in the box when it comes to computes. Ha Ha..
Maybe I'll ask my 10 year old grandson to assist me. LOL

Thank you the info on the motor mounts. But I've decided to go with my original engine just because I want it appear to be as original as possible with a few exceptions. Better wiring and better braking ie: power brake booster, and double master cylinder. As for now the brakes are 4 wheel drum but may be upgraded to disk when I rebuild the front suspension with all new rubber as mine is pretty dry rotted.

fast fredy....well i have some photos on my phone but haven't figured out the process of transferring them to my computer so I can upload to the site.

Good plan! I'm running power brakes and they're 4 wheel drum. They stop the car on a dime! Very happy with them! This is the brake booster and M/C I used........

evintho... I like your idea of keeping the drum brakes. It stops the car fine just takes a little more effort with the foot on the pedal than most are used to. I was considering exactly what you've done just didn't want to pony up for the big bucks for a unit already put together when I figured someone had already figured out the ones to use.
Did you have to do anything to the original brake pedal rod ie: shorting or lengthening???

Yeah, it had to be lengthened a little so I just took a threaded coupler and screwed one end onto the original brake rod and the other end onto the booster rod. I added a jam nut to lock it in thus giving me an adjustable brake pedal rod.........

evintho.. great thats good info. I see you moved your brake light switch into the car. I did just the same, didn't trust the pressure switch.
