Polish and wax - or just polish?

Thinking about nickel parts like my cowl lights... I polish with Simichrome polish and get a nice chrome appearance, but it doesn't last long. Does anyone apply paste wax after polishing these parts, to keep the shine longer?

I polish the nickle as little as possible, hopefully to make it last many, many years. When I do polish the nickle, I follow-up with a good wax. It sure seems to make the shine last a long time. However, I live in a very dry area, so that's one factor in my favor on this subject.

As long as the wax keeps the oxigein off it it should last a lot longer.

Hi, Ditto to what Dave said, But I live on the East coast right on a wet bay area.. I keep the NICKEL plated parts covered as much as possible & use a car cover also..
