My 24 Touring is electric start. It has side oil lights. It has an electric tail light. Should it also have an oil taillight? I would like to put one on if it was standard. The books I have don't show any rear views to check with.

It would not have had the oil side light. Someone added them to make it look cool! The electric tail light would be right. ( I have oil side light one my 21 just because I like them!)

Oil side lamps were used on the "Poor Boy" cars sold on thru 1926. This was the cars without the starter and generator. They had magneto headlights and a magneto tail light. Kerosine side lights would be part of this package. Ford even made special brackets to mount the kerosine lamps to the 1926/27 models.

Not to add oil to the fire John but the cowl lights could have been added or your car may not have originally had an electric starter. This was obvious on my Touring. '22 car with a '26 eng. & trans. with cowl lights and an electric tail lamp. The tail light may have come with the rear spare tire carrier. Not sure about that.
