New Radiator Core Question

A question, for those who have had a radiator re-cored within the past 2-3 is what was the approximate cost? Also, do you save significantly from purchasing a replacement radiator from the vendors? If not why do it?
 
I have been paying about $425 for a 4 row/10 fins for 30/31 re-cores. 28/29 run just under $400 but most of them will not take a 4 row because of lower tank limitations. New radiators run from just over $500 to $700 for a show radiator plus shipping. That seems like a significant savings plus the original tanks and straps are used. Turn-around on a local re-core is about a week.
