All,
I'm looking for era-correct 'Cobra grain' for a project and was hoping someone could help. As I understand it, the long-grain cobra vinyl currently reproduced is a copy of the 1960's pattern and is incorrect (too long and deep) for the Model A.
I have heard that the 'short' or 'fine' grain is very similar to what was used on the open cars (see http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2793)
My question is - who makes the most correct topping material for the model A? How does the repro stuff compare with the original as far as texture, pattern, color, shine/sheen, &c.? I understand that SMS, Lebaron-Bonney, Mac's, and several others manufacture or carry it and would be interested to know whose looks best.
Thanks!
