Good morning,
My friend is looking at a model T pick up, I need some help were model T pick up made in 1922 ? Did they have a metal bed or wooden ?
Thank you for your help!!
Mike

Ford made steel Model T pickups in 1926 and 1927 These are similar but not the same as Model A pickups with a wooden bed floor. Prior to this any Model T pickups were roadsters with the turtle deck removed and a homemade or aftermarket wooden bed in its place. This was done quite often. I had a Model T for 33 years and a Model A for the past 7 years. John

We have a customer that claims his TT is a 1922. The cab looks all original but the bed is fabricated. His has a wood floor with steel sides and he's won trophies at several car shows including Hershey.

As posted above by Stevests, the first steel beds were made in 1925 and were mounted somewhat higher on the frame and did not have the the provisions to go over the rear spring. ("No steel plate above the rear spring)
Also the rear fenders were not bolted to the bed in 1925 like the later 26/27 beds did.
(1925 beds had a round rod for fender support)

Jkeesey, Ford built a steel bed for TT trucks (Ton trucks) that is much larger than the ones used on the roadster cars (pickup). The larger truck bed was called an "Express Bed" and looked a lot like the smaller pickup bed and had steel sides and a wooden floor like the smaller one. I think 1924 was the year it was introduced??? There were special rear fenders that were sold with the Express Bed.

You are correct about the "Express Box/Bed" Willie - I have my Gramps' 1924 TT C-Cab Covered Express that he bought new !
