Anyone know why Ash was the chosen wood for the Model T body structure, would Oak work just as well? Reason being that I am re-wooding a 23 Touring car and oak is easier to come by.
Oak is not a good body wood as it tends to shear and split . Once dry,and the body is flexed,it will crack and leave you with a very bad feeling. Poplar,Ash Maple or Gum would be better choices.
